Dual-SIM mode. One physical nano-SIM plus an eSIM, or two eSIMs.

Both lines active. Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS). Apple’s Dual SIM article says both lines can make and receive calls, and that the iPhone uses one cellular data network at a time.

eSIM only in more countries

Apple’s SIM article says a iPhone 17 is eSIM only when bought in the United States, the United States Virgin Islands, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Guam, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar or Oman. Elsewhere it lists a nano-SIM and an eSIM. The United States line is below. We do not state a separate tray count for the other eSIM-only countries on that list, or for mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.
