The rules
Each rule adds or subtracts points. A total of +1 or more suggests repairing, −1 or less suggests replacing, anything in between is a close call.
- Cost ratio. Repair quote as a share of the replacement price. Up to 30%: +2. 30–50%: 0. Over 50%: −2.
- Value. If you enter the phone's value, a repair costing more than that value: −1. Less than half of it: +1.
- Updates left. Based on the guaranteed update period on the EU label, counted from the date the model was placed on the EU market. Under 1 year: −2. 1 to 2 years: 0. More than 2 years: +1.
- Repairability class. Class A or B: +1, since later repairs are likely to be easier. Class D or E: −1. No class: no effect.
These rules are a starting point, not advice for your situation. They ignore data transfer, warranty, insurance and environmental cost. Update end dates are computed from EPREL data; see software update end dates.
